Independent analysis has identified over 260 million tonnes per year of forestry around the Atlantic which is growing in excess of requirements and within short reach of the UK. MGT needs 2m tonnes per year.

A given area of forestry grows at a rate determined by sunshine, water, and soil. If we harvest at this rate per year, we are left with the same mass of trees growing at the end of the year as we had at the beginning, ie no carbon debt. Simple.

We have never seen a shortage of paper. Forestry energy is available every hour of the year.

By growing in the warmest climates, we gain a natural advantage. Our electricity is significantly cheaper than green alternatives.

By building “utility scale” projects, we obtain high efficiency. We can move our trees across the Atlantic with lower carbon emissions than moving by 50 miles on UK roads. And we include all of our emissions, from fertiliser to boiler, in our submissions to OFGEM. We don’t get ROCs otherwise!

Our Thinking

 

We like to think of our business as capturing solar energy in nature’s converters, in those areas where nature has a plentiful supply of land, sunshine, and water, then moving that energy in the cleanest way possible and finally converting the stored sunshine into electricity in the lowest cost and highest efficiency machines.

 

Biomass electricity comes from secure countries and is dependable, every hour of the year. It is also one of the lowest cost forms of renewable electricity.
